It’s hard to imagine the future, but one thing we can predict is that it’ll require some different skills from what you might already have. So whether you’re in high school or college, it’s a good idea to think about the skills you’ll need as an adult — and consider how you could go about learning them now, so that you’re ready when the time comes. Here are some of the most important skills you might need in 10 years, and ideas about how to start developing them today!

Technology

  • The World Economic Forum predicts that by 2020, 75% of all jobs will require digital skills. This is why it’s important to be savvy and well-versed in technology, so that your career prospects don’t dry up. If you want a good job in the future, learn programming languages like Python, SQL or HTML. Check out Khan Academy for tutorials!
  • If you’re interested in creativity and innovation – think engineering! If a particular field has a significant shortage of engineers (such as civil engineering), this might be an excellent area to consider pursuing as demand continues to grow steadily over time.

Social Media

Reaching out to people on social media is a great way to get their attention, but you also have to know how to use the platform. It’s not just about posting content on your business page or following users. You should be taking advantage of all of the features and tools offered by each social media site if you want your posts to be seen by as many people as possible. For example, Facebook offers videos that can be posted within the news feed as well as live video streaming. Instagram has new features like Boomerang which can make it easier for you to share videos with your followers. Twitter now lets users put polls in their tweets which makes it more interactive than ever before.

On YouTube there are over 3 million hours of video uploaded every minute! The point is, keep up with these sites so that you’re ready for what comes next.

Data Analysis

With so many jobs disappearing, and new jobs being created, it’s hard to know what the future will require. But here are a few skills that seem likely to stay useful for a long time:

– The ability to work well with others. This is probably the most important skill of all. Everyone needs someone else on their team who can work well with others! Plus, there’s a lot of data showing that extroverts have better networking and leadership skills than introverts. So if you’re an introvert, don’t worry about it too much – there are still plenty of careers that suit your personality type. If you’re an extrovert though, think about how this might help your career.

– Data analysis and interpretation. Businesses need people who can get more out of the data they collect through surveys or digital marketing efforts by turning raw numbers into easy-to-understand insights about customers or products.

– Critical thinking skills.

Critical Thinking

-Critical thinking is an important skill to have and it helps us solve problems. We use it every day in our work, personal lives and more. It involves a deep understanding of something, using logic to make informed decisions, and being able to see things from different perspectives.

-Critical thinking will help us stay ahead of the curve by allowing us to stay engaged with what’s happening around us and how it may affect our lives, both personally and professionally. -One great way to improve your critical thinking is by practicing on daily tasks. For example, when you’re grocery shopping or cooking dinner, look at each item and think about why you might need that item (or if there are any healthier alternatives). Keep this up over time and soon your critical-thinking muscles will be strong! -If we want to get better at critical thinking we can also read a lot of books or articles on various topics that interest us so that we can learn new ways of looking at the world.

Creative Problem Solving

Have you ever had a problem at work and found a creative solution to it? Have your skills and experience been sought after by other people or companies for help solving problems for them? If so, then congratulations! You may have found a hidden talent. Creative problem-solving is an essential skill set that will become more necessary as we move forward into our digital world. It takes creativity, determination, optimism and analytical thinking to solve problems. When faced with a difficult task, ask yourself these three questions: What’s my goal? How can I achieve this goal? What resources do I have available to me right now (or what resources do I know where I can find)? Be sure to use all of your resources and come up with multiple solutions before picking one.

Emotional Intelligence

In today’s fast-paced world, it can be tough to keep up with the latest and greatest. We’re constantly bombarded with new words, new ways of doing things, and more information than we could ever hope to process. Most people would agree that having strong interpersonal skills is an important career skill. But what exactly does that mean, and how can someone improve their EQ? It has been described as a mix of self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. Essentially, this means understanding your own feelings and emotions while managing them so they don’t get in the way of your interactions with others. You also have to understand other people’s thoughts and feelings so you know what motivates them to act or react a certain way. And lastly, when communicating with others, you need to listen actively without interrupting or jumping ahead in the conversation too quickly.

Collaboration

There are many skills that will be needed in the future. Some of these skills have been around for decades and some have not yet been developed. These skills include, but may not be limited to, coding, data analytics, design thinking and human-centered design. The tasks involved with these new skills will require an entirely different skill set than what is used today. If a person has spent their entire career as a coder, they will not be able to transition easily into a data analyst. It’s important that we teach people these newer skills so they can prepare themselves for the needs of the workplace in this digital era.

Cultural Awareness

-Knowledge of history, politics, and geography of your country and other countries.

-Ability to adapt to new situations.

-Understanding how culture impacts business.

-Ability to work well with people from other cultures. -Ability to understand others’ viewpoints and perspectives.

-Ability to communicate with people who don’t speak your language fluently.

-Awareness of different cultures throughout the world.
