Ever heard of the saying, eat that frog? It refers to getting down to doing the difficult things first thing in the morning, so you have the rest of your day to focus on whatever else you need to do. Procrastination can be debilitating, but with this article, you’ll learn how to eat that frog and get it over with so you can get your tasks done!

Finding Your Frog

You know the saying, If the first thing you do each morning is eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long. Well, that’s what we’re going to do here. We’re going to find our frog—the one big task or goal that we’ve been procrastinating on—and we’re going to eat it. But before we start eating, let’s be sure that this really is our frog. To find out, ask yourself these questions:

1) Have I been putting off doing this for weeks?

2) Does this project scare me?

3) Is there any aspect of this project I enjoy?

4) Do I look forward to starting my workday tomorrow because of this project?

If your answer to any of these questions was yes, then congratulations! You found your frog!

Waiting For The Right Moment

Many people think that they need the perfect circumstances in order to start something new, but that’s usually just an excuse for procrastination. The truth is, you can’t always control the situation you’re in, but you can control how you react to it. And usually, taking action is the best way to overcome procrastination. Just do one small thing right now. It might not seem like much, but each time you take action in spite of your fears or doubts, you build momentum towards completing your goal.

After a while, even the smallest task will seem easier because of all the momentum you’ve built up. Don’t wait until everything feels perfect before starting!

Break Down The Problem Into Its Smallest Components

Procrastination is a problem that many people face. It can be hard to overcome, but it is possible. Here are five steps to help you overcome procrastination:

1. Figure out what is causing you to procrastinate. Is it fear of failure? Perfectionism? Lack of motivation? Once you know what is causing you to procrastinate, you can begin to address the issue.

2. Make a plan. Set realistic goals for yourself and break down your larger goals into manageable tasks.

3. Turn off your phone when you work on your goal(s). Phone distractions will only hinder your progress.

4. Create accountability by sharing your plans with someone who cares about you and wants to see you succeed.

5. Reward yourself! Remembering why you’re working toward something in the first place can make it easier to get back on track if you have setbacks or problems.

Stay Focused On One Task At A Time

The first step is to recognize that you need to focus on one task at a time. This may seem obvious, but it’s easy to get caught up in trying to do too many things at once. Once you’ve identified the task you need to focus on, set a timer for a specific amount of time and work on that task until the timer goes off. If you find yourself getting distracted, take a break and come back to the task later. Alternatively, take your dog for a walk or call your mom or friend-anything that will help you keep your mind fresh and focused.

This process may not be as fast as doing multiple tasks simultaneously, but this approach can reduce stress levels by helping you avoid overthinking things.

Avoid Distractions

The first step to eating a frog is avoiding distractions. When you have a task that you’re dreading, it’s easy to let your mind wander and allow other things to take precedence. But if you can focus on the task at hand, you’ll be one step closer to getting it done. Turn off your phone, TV, and anything else that might distract you. For some people, this might include leaving their computer at work or disconnecting from social media for a while.

Get Comfortable With Failure And Start Trying New Things.

In order to move past your fears of failure, it is important to get comfortable with the idea of failing. Failure is not the end, but rather a learning experience that can help you grow. Try new things, and don’t be afraid to fail. The more you fail, the more you will learn and the closer you will be to success. You may have heard the phrase failure breeds success and this is true because as humans we learn from our mistakes.

Don’t Beat Yourself Up When Things Go Wrong

There are always going to be times when things don’t go according to plan. The important thing is not to beat yourself up about it. Learn from your mistakes and move on. If you dwell on your failures, you’ll never get anywhere. Instead, focus on the good parts of what you’ve done so far. Don’t worry about the next step or where you’re headed; just take it one step at a time. It’s okay if things don’t go as planned; just make sure you’re enjoying the process.

Get Accountability From Friends Or Family Members

When it comes to overcoming procrastination, one of the best things you can do is to get accountability from friends or family members. This could mean setting up regular check-ins with someone who will help you stay on track, or simply having someone to answer to can help you stay motivated and focused. Plus, knowing that someone is there for you can help reduce stress and anxiety about getting started on a project. If you’re struggling to find anyone, try looking for an online community or forum where people are working towards similar goals as yours. There are tons of helpful resources out there in various places!
